Overview

La Trobe University Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Physiotherapy Practice Overview

Physiotherapists assess and treat patients with temporary or long-term physical injuries, movement disorders or disabilities, helping them achieve the highest possible degree of recovery, activity, and quality of life.

This four year undergraduate course aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to formulate physiotherapeutic diagnoses and design programs of prevention, treatment and exercise. You will study science, clinical experience, and methods of problem-solving and decision-making, as you prepare for professional roles in various health care settings.

Clinical Work Experience

Practical placements are an important part of our program. You will complete 30 weeks of full-time clinical experience in a range of health care settings. Placements happen throughout the year and are not limited to standard semester weeks.

Entry Requirements

High School completion with any two of Biology, Chemistry, a Mathematics (any), Physical Education or Physics. Minimum GPA 85%, however, because of the competitive nature acceptance GPA may run higher.

Professional Recognition

Professional Recognition

La Trobe University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Physiotherapy Practice program is accredited by the Australian Council of Physiotherapy Regulating Authorities. Graduates are eligible for physiotherapy registration in any State or Territory of Australia. Registration in New Zealand is available under the terms of the Trans-Tasman agreement. Graduates applying to licensing in Canada, UK or the USA will be required to provide details of their program of studies to the relevant bodies and sit a licensing examination.

Students wishing to license as a physiotherapist in Canada should contact the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy for procedures and accreditation procedures. The CAP is the national federation of provincial/territorial regulators in Canada.
