The following links provide important resources for those wishing to study overseas. The decision to leave the country for furthering your education comes with many questions and KOM Consultants are happy to answer all questions about the process of applying to foreign universities. There are, however, issues that may not be covered on our web site and these references will hopefully provide you with information that will help you make informed decisions.

  • Australian High Commission
    The information on this site is intended for Canadian citizens or other persons usually resident in Canada who would normally seek visa information from the Visa section of the Australian High Commission in Ottawa.
  • British High Commission
    The information on this site is intended for Canadian citizens or other persons usually resident in Canada who would normally seek visa information from the Visa section of the British High Commission in Ottawa. You can download the Student Visa Application form off this site.
  • Australian Visa and Immigration Information
    Information on Visa application and laws from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs pertaining to study and immigration in Australia.
  • Ontario College of Teachers
    Those wishing to study overseas should look on this web site for regulations surrounding teaching in Ontario.
  • Provincial Teacher Certification
    All students who have obtained a teaching qualification either abroad or nationally, must become certified as teachers in the province where they intend to teach. Each province has its own requirements. All teaching programs that are offered through KOM will allow students to come back to Ontario to teach. We recommend that students consult the provincial bodies.
  • Professional Associations in Canada
    Students wanting to study professional degrees in a foreign country are recommended to research the professional body in Canada regarding accreditation requirements.
  • OSAP
    Ontario Student Assistance Program. This site provides information on student loans and grants.
  • OHIP
    Contact your local provincial Ministry of Health office regarding your time out of your Canadian Province.

    Student Guard provides short-term health coverage for students who are travelling out of Canada and out of Australia. This insurance can be purchased for a certain block of time (ie. day, week, month) directly online. This is ideal for the student who will be travelling before or after their study period in Australia.

  • Department of Foreign Affairs
    This web site, maintained by the Department of Foreign Affairs, describes how the Consular Affairs Bureau provides consular services to Canadian travellers abroad. They are committed to helping Canadians prepare for foreign travel and provide them with a variety of services once they are abroad. This site contains vital statistics on target destinations as well as contact information to the Canadian Government while residing in different countries.

    KOM Consultants’ web site contains Adobe Acrobat files you may wish to view/download or print from our web site. The home page for Adobe Acrobat Reader has this program available for download. The program comes with easy to install directions and can be used as a web-browser plug-in and a stand-alone program for reading “PDF” files.
