Bournemouth University Bachelor of Science (Honours) Physiotherapy Overview

As a physiotherapist you’ll be helping to maximize each patient’s potential through your knowledge of human movement and function. There are a range of techniques that you can use to manage physical, psychological and social well-being, and this dynamic and exciting course will give you a comprehensive grounding in all of them. What’s more you’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including physiotherapy skills rooms equipped with anatomical models, electrotherapy machines, rehabilitation equipment and interactive AV equipment.

In this course you will usually be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, demonstrators, technicians and research students.

Clinical Work Experience

Placements are designed to develop your competence and physiotherapy skills.  In the first year you will experience an introductory placement, followed by the first six-week clinical placement. There are two six-week placements in the second year and two six-week placements in the third year to ensure you gain a minimum of 1,000 hours practice experience. You’ll be supported by practice placement educator (PPE) throughout your practice placements.

Entry Requirements

Completed High school diploma with an average of 70%. Required subjects include Biology, Human Biology, Maths and Physical Education.  Though not required, relevant subjects include chemistry, psychology, sociology and physics.
