$3 million revamp for Curtin University’s community clinics

Curtin University’s on-campus healthcare clinics have undergone a $3.1 million revamp to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered to the local community.

The newly refurbished Interprofessional Health and Wellness Centre at Curtin’s Bentley Campus is also providing health sciences students with access to outstanding training facilities to make sure they are taught in a real-world environment.

Funded by Health Workforce Australia the innovative facility boasts a $400,000 Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Training System. The 3D equipment will radically improve the teaching of radiation therapy to radiation oncology staff at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Curtin students to facilitate quality cancer care.

Versatile, multi-purpose consulting rooms have been incorporated into the revamp, which have been fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities for teaching purposes.

“The new facility will provide our local community with one of the most modern and contemporary health clinics in the area,” Ms Lawrence said.

“They will have access to a number of healthcare services offered at affordable prices including clinical psychology consultations for adults and children, physiotherapy treatment, cardiac rehabilitation, stuttering services and therapeutic massage.

“Treatments are provided by Curtin health sciences student practitioners under supervision of expert clinical teaching staff.
