Overview

Curtin’s graduate-entry Master of Physiotherapy is designed to allow talented individuals with a degree in another discipline to gain the knowledge and skills required of an entry level physiotherapist at a much faster rate than the four year bachelor level Physiotherapy course allows.

In this graduate entry master course a series of coursework units will provide students with foundation knowledge in a range of specialist and practical areas. Students will complete case studies and clinical practice which will help students integrate knowledge into well-informed clinical decision making. The Master of Physiotherapy studies at Curtin University will emphasize evidence based practice and encourage you to think critically when making decisions.

Curtin’s Physiotherapy School has more than 55 years experience which underpins Curtin’s internationally recognized and challenging, yet very rewarding physiotherapy courses. These Physiotherapy courses are taught by highly qualified staff with excellent clinical and research capabilities, in world-class facilities. The School of Physiotherapy at Curtin University makes innovative use of web technology for staff and student communication and to integrate student feedback into continual course improvement.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants to Curtin’s Master of Physiotherapy must have a relevant bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 70% is required. However, due to the competitive nature of entry the Master of Physiotherapy, GPAs usually run higher.

Physiotherapy applicants must have covered the following subject areas and supply course outlines:

  • Musculoskeletal anatomy
  • Human Biology and Physiology
  • Psychology
  • Desired subjects include: Physics, Research Methods, Stats, Evidence Based Practice, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology

Professional Recognition

Professional Recognition

Curtin University’s Master of Physiotherapy program is accredited by the Australian Council of Physiotherapy Regulating Authorities. Graduates are eligible for physiotherapy registration in any State or Territory of Australia. Registration in New Zealand is available under the terms of the Trans-Tasman agreement. Graduates applying to licensing in Canada, UK or the USA will be required to provide details of their program of studies to the relevant bodies and sit a licensing examination.

Students wishing to license as a physiotherapist in Canada should contact the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy for procedures and accreditation procedures. The CAP is the national federation of provincial/territorial regulators in Canada.

researchers have found children who spend a lot of time watching television, have poorer and weaker bones in young adulthood which could significantly impact their health in later life.

Lead researcher Dr Joanne McVeigh, Curtin’s School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work, said the study examined the TV viewing habits of 1,181 young adults over their childhood and adolescence years and related these to how strong their bones were at age 20. …
