A national survey in the UK has recognized Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen as providing its students with one of the best student experiences in both Scotland and the UK.

The Times Higher Education (THE) UK Student Experience Survey ranked RGU as providing the third best student experience in Scotland behind St Andrews and University of Dundee.

RGU was also ranked third equal in the UK for the quality of its facilities, alongside the University of Oxford. In the UK RGU came 38th overall for student satisfaction, one of only seven UK universities to break into the top 40 this year and the only one from Scotland.

Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, Principal of RGU said, “Over recent years RGU has invested £136 million in its buildings and infrastructure, and we now have some of the best teaching and research facilities in the UK for professionals in pharmacy, engineering, computing, architecture and the built environment. Our performance in this survey not only reflects the investment we have made but also the commitment of the university’s leadership and staff, who have ensured that the student experience at RGU is so positive, in our state of the art campus.”

The THE Student Experience Survey, now in its 11th year, is unique in that it looks beyond the usual definition of the student experience – comprised largely of teaching, learning, assessment and feedback – to a broader definition, one created by students themselves that includes those aspects of university life that matter most to them.
