Flinders University – Top 50 University Worldwide

Flinders University is proud to be ranked in the top 50 universities under 50 years old worldwide by the Times Higher Education 150 Under 50 Rankings 2016.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling says being named among the Top 50 of the world’s best young universities reflects Flinders’ commitment to high calibre research and education.

“It’s fantastic recognition of our achievements during our first 50 years as we plan to build on our strengths into the future,” Professor Stirling says.

Flinders has climbed 31 places from 77^th in 2015 to 46^th in 2016.

Of the 19 Australian universities that made the list, Flinders is number six.

The indicators against which Flinders has excelled include industry income and innovation, teaching and the learning environment, research, and international outlook.

“This ranking comes just weeks after the opening of our technologically-advanced student hub and plaza, and less than a year since the opening of our state-of-the-art Tonsley facility for Computer Science, Engineering and Maths.

“Flinders’ focus on providing high quality educational experience and equally high quality outcomes is acknowledged in our acceleration up the rankings table.

“This global recognition reinforces our standing as a world top 2 per cent university that is making a difference to the communities we serve and the world around us.

“A research-intensive university that’s innovatively finding solutions to real world problems in partnership with industry, we take great pride in preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills to address the challenges of our times,” Professor Stirling says.

The Times Higher Education 150 Under 50 Rankings celebrates young universities that have made a great impact on the global stage in years rather than centuries and showcases the future rising university stars.
