University of Sydney’s exciting new development on campus – the opening of the first specially built postgraduate accommodation building.

“We know that postgraduates need an environment that is conducive to scholarly achievement, one that provides flexibility around their busy schedules.  So in January 2014, we will open the first bespoke postgraduate building featuring a stylish, contemporary design, all ensuite rooms and common facilities that encourage social interaction and community.”

 Life as a postgraduate student at Sancta has moved to a new level in 2014

Sancta Sophia offers a peaceful and harmonious residency to a growing number of postgraduate men and women, and visiting academics. Sancta Sophia Graduate House opened in early January 2014 is brand new, purpose built accommodation for postgraduates.

Sancta’s postgraduates are diverse- studying graduate degrees such as medicine, dentistry, law and veterinary science, masters and PhDs; they are local, interstate and international- but all share a wonderful friendship within the College community and embrace the diversity in backgrounds and study interests between them.

There are 30 postgraduates in residence at Sancta in 2013. 2014 sees the opening of our new building designed specifically for postgraduate students. The new building features 128 modern studio style, ensuite rooms – to ensure the ideal environment for academic success.

Common Areas

There are 2 common areas  – the Rooftop Lounge and the Figtree Lounge. Each has a full kitchen and casual lounge and dining spaces. Outdoor living comprises the Rooftop Terrace with a BBQ area, lounges and tables and the Figtree Terrace which wraps around a protected figtree and landscaped gardens. Of course, postgraduates are free to access the common areas in the Sancta main building as well.
