In honour of National Speech & Hearing Awareness month, KOM highlights Griffith University and the Master of Speech Pathology program.
 
Griffith University is just one of six Australian universities that offer Australian Speech Pathology programs in Australia.

The Master of Speech Pathology program at Griffith University starts in February and is two years in length. The application deadline for the February 2014 intake is September 28, 2013.

About the Program:

Griffith speech pathology programConfirming its commitment to the delivery of contemporary, relevant programs Griffith Health has introduced a Master of Speech Pathology program at the University’s Gold Coast campus.

From 2013 the Speech Pathology program will be located in our new $150 million Griffith Health Centre, adjacent to the new Gold Coast University Hospital.

The Master of Speech Pathology will equip you to begin practice as a fully-accredited, highly-competent and work-ready speech pathologist in a wide range of health, community and education settings.

On successful completion of this degree, you will have professional recognition from Speech Pathology Australia* and be eligible to practise as a fully accredited, highly competent and work-ready speech pathologist.

This degree encourages personal and professional development through a problem based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice.

 Admission requirements:

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Speech Pathology program, a student must have:

  • completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology) with a minimum GPA of 5.0 – desirable study areas include (but are not limited to or required to be): psychology; health science; public health; medical science; human services; education; linguistics (or a degree with a linguistics major) and
  • satisfactory performance in an interview with the Program Convenor.

As the number of applicants may exceed the places available, selection for admission is competitive and will be based upon (1) academic merit and (2) interview.
