Established in 1992, La Trobe University’s Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) is designed for students who already have an undergraduate degree, as you will take only law subjects. Graduates come from a wide range of backgrounds, including architecture, commerce, engineering, policing and social work. La Trobe’s graduate entry Law program aims to prepare you for employment in a global legal economy, fostering excellent analytical, problem-solving and critical research skills, and providing many opportunities to link classroom learning with legal practice. Students will have the opportunity to gain experience through placements in community legal services, judicial mentoring and participation in simulated client interviews and moots while in Australia.

The Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) is a three-year degree which provides graduates with an accredited professional qualification in law. The program offers an innovative, high quality legal education with a global and social justice perspective and a real emphasis on practical hands-on experiences. La Trobe University’s graduate entry Bachelor of Laws (LLB) includes all the compulsory subjects required by the Council of Legal Education for admission to legal practice in Victoria, as well as a broad range of electives, many with a practical skills component, such as Clinical Legal Education, International Advocacy, Mediation and Negotiation. The core component of the program is very structured.

La Trobe’s Law School in Australia provides first year students with a strong theoretical and practical foundation for their future law studies through a combination of skills-based and public and private law subjects covering areas such as Dispute Resolution, Contract and Tort Law, Criminal Law and Principles of Public Law. The second and third years of La Trobe’s Graduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB) address other areas of private law obligation such as Property Law, Equity and Trusts and Remedies. Students also examine key aspects of statutory regulation, which impact on the common law, corporate regulation, principles of administrative review, and additional practice-related requirements such as Statutory Interpretation, Civil Procedure and Professional Conduct and Ethics. Elective subjects allow students to construct a specialization in an area of interest.

La Trobe University’s Graduate entry Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is available at both Melbourne and Bendigo Campuses, but students commencing their studies at Bendigo normally transfer to Melbourne after completion of one full-time year of study (eight core subjects) where they complete the remainder of their course.
