Learning from highly experienced and passionate teaching staff, students of Flinders Law School in Australia will develop an understanding of the historical development and context of Australian law and gain the ability to critically evaluate it. By the final year at Flinders Law School, students will have acquired the skills and knowledge which will allow them to analyze, reason, research, advocate, interview, negotiate and work in teams.

In addition to this solid theoretical grounding the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice offered at Flinders University has embedded within it the necessary legal practice skills which ensure that you are exposed to real world work experiences and are career-ready from the moment you graduate.

Flinders University’s Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice contain a high proportion of compulsory topics that are required to enter legal practice. Flinders Law School integrates legal skills components that form the foundation of your professional training program within some of the compulsory topics. These include interviewing, oral advocacy, negotiating and drafting documents.

As students get to the end of Flinders Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice they can choose to graduate earlier with a Bachelor of Laws if you do not wish to complete the legal practice training component of the program. Those wanting to enter legal practice spend most of their last year taking professional training topics including a 225-hour placement in a legal office.

The Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours) contains many compulsory topics covering the major areas of law. Practical skills are developed from the beginning of the course and are linked to compulsory topics. The range of option topics allows you to develop specialist interests. To qualify for Flinders University’s Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours), a student must complete 144 units, comprising 90 units of compulsory topics, 22.5 units of legal practice core topics, 22.5 units of option topics and a 9-unit dissertation topic.
