Bangor students are amongst the most satisfied in the UK

The National Student Survey (NSS) results reflects the University’s focus on overall student experience. The results – released August 2016 – places Bangor:

• amongst the UK’s top 15 universities for student satisfaction*
• 4th in the UK and top in Wales for academic support

Further analysis of the data shows Bangor University is in the top 20 in the UK for both teaching and assessment and feedback.

A long tradition of academic excellence

“As well as a long record of academic excellence, Bangor is renowned for providing excellent teaching and student support, and this is borne out by these wonderful results,” said Professor Oliver Turnbull, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning at Bangor University.

“The University has performed consistently strongly in the NSS over the last three years, rivalling institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge by delivering the same levels of student satisfaction for the third year running. These results reflect the excellent standard of teaching at Bangor University and are an endorsement of our activities and our values. As well as being in the UK’s top 15 universities, seven subject areas are top in the UK for student satisfaction and a further 14 subject areas are in the top 10 in the UK.

The NSS results are drawn from a poll of around half a million graduating students at each university in the UK. They provide the most comprehensive feedback on the student experience at each institution.

Highly rated Student Experience

The NSS results follows other recent accolades where the quality of accommodation, courses and lecturers and student support were all rated within the top 5 in the UK (What Uni Student Choice Awards 2016). Bangor was also recently rated within the top 15 universities in the UK for student experience (Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey).
