KOM just received word from Bond University that Bond’s School of Physiotherapy has extended the application deadline for the Doctor of Physiotherapy.

Bond’s Doctor of Physiotherapy applications for 2014 have now been extended to 31st October 2013.

 

Bond University Doctor of Physiotherapy Overview

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) is a 2 years Full-Time program (3 semesters per year). Bond’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program offers an innovative problem based learning model (PBL) of physiotherapy education to prepare entry level physiotherapists for their roles and responsibilities as practitioners.

**Bond University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine in Australia have formed an educational alliance with McMaster University in Canada, which is internationally renowned for its focus on problem based learning PBL

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy integrates the clinical, pathological and related sciences with the physiotherapy knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to examine, diagnose and treat physiotherapy clients. Clinical experience in Australia will include:

  • Orthopaedics
  • Cardio-respiratory practice
  • Out-patient musculoskeletal practice (hospital or private practice settings)
  • Neurological and orthogeriatric rehabilitation (hospital and community settings)
  • Chronic Disease and Disability, whether paediatric or adult
  • Paediatrics or women’s/men’s health, or private/sports practice

Clinical Work Experience

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) offers 30 weeks of clinical experience through both Australian hospital and community settings. Students complete a clinical internship (12 weeks) with an embedded research project in their final semester. This final placement is designed to ensure graduates of Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program are ideally prepared for entering the workforce.

 

Entry Requirements

Successful completion of a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Sports Science degree from Bond University, or equivalent degree from recognized institution, meeting the following minimum academic entry criteria:

Canadian and US applicants: completed undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or other relevant Health Sciences area carrying a competitive grade point average.

• Two semesters of Human Anatomy • Two semesters of Human Physiology • One semester of biomechanics • One semester of Research Design/Statistics • One semester of Exercise Prescription • Transcripts of completion of primary degree and specific course outlines need to be supplied with application • Successful performance at a selection interview

 

Professional Recognition

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy produces work ready graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes and behaviours to be eligible for registration as a physiotherapist in Australia.

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy has been accredited as an entry-level program by the Australian Physiotherapy Council and is listed as an approved program of study by The Physiotherapy Board of Australia.

Graduates applying for licensing in Canada, UK or the USA will be required to provide details of their program of studies to the relevant bodies and sit a licensing examination.
