Overview

KOM Consultants are proud to introduce Griffith University’s School of Dentistry to the Canadian students. Griffith’s Dental program offers a combined five year Undergraduate Entry Dental Program, which includes a three year Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science followed by a two year Graduate Diploma of Dentistry. Graduates holding both of these qualifications are eligible to sit examinations to register as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia, as well as being able to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a dentist in Canada.

As a student at Griffith University, you will have access to world-class facilities within the Centre for Medicine and Oral Health, co-located with the Griffith School of Medicine. These facilities are housed in Griffith’s new state of the art teaching hospital, scheduled to open its doors in 2014. This magnificent 800 bed hospital will include a 54-chair dental clinic, commercial dental and clinical skills laboratories, high-level IT facilities, and research facilities, all located on Griffith’s spectacular Gold Coast Campus. Griffith’s brand new teaching hospital offers the most latest in technology facilities within Australia.

Through Griffith University’s Dental School you will develop the theoretical knowledge underpinning dental practice and gain extensive clinical work in the Griffith Dental Clinic and on community placements.

Completed High School Diploma minimum 94% or, University Undergraduate Degree carrying a competitive GPA (87%)

Must have one of Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics or Math.

Selection into Griffith University’s Dental School Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science Surgery will be based on meeting the minimum academic threshold and prerequisite subjects

Successful graduates of Griffith University’s Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science will be given automatic entry into Griffith University’s Graduate Diploma of Dentistry.

Griffith University’s Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science combined with Griffith University’s Graduate Diploma of Dentistry program is fully accredited by the Australian Dental Council.

Successful completion of both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs (five years) offered through Griffith University’s Dental School will allow you to apply for registration as a general dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Griffith University’s combined Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma in Dentistry is fully accredited by the Australian Dental Council.

Graduates of Griffith University’s combined Dental program will be qualified to practice dentistry upon completion of the degree and Australian licensing examinations, as well as being eligible to sit for the Dental Examining Board of Canada (DEB) examination to practice as a Dentist (in Canada).

In 2010, the Australian Dental Council and the Commission on Dental accreditation of Canada signed a reciprocal agreement which allows accredited graduates of either body to practice dentistry in Australia or Canada. This means Canadian students returning home with dentistry degrees from accredited Australian Dental Schools can follow the same licensing process as Canadian domestic graduates. Canadian license will be fully granted upon successful completion of the National Exam administered through the Canadian National Dental Examining Board (NDEB).

has been awarded six Australian Research Council Linkage Project grants worth more than $1.3 million for a variety of research studies.

’s Institute for Glycomics will open its doors to the public to showcase to the community its malaria vaccine project.

The malaria vaccine research team, led by Professor Michael Good, have just finished clinical trials conducted at Griffith’s Gold Coast campus this year and have been working closely with expert infectious disease clinicians at Gold Coast University Hospital.

This is the second round of clinical trials to be conducted by the Institute for Glycomics to examine malaria vaccine strategies in humans. …
