Bournemouth is looking for Canadian Community College students who have studied any of the different media platforms. Course Content

Core Units

  • The Global Media Environment

This unit will give a greater awareness of the ever-developing global media environment. You will learn about key concepts, ideas and theories relating to the development of media within a local, community, regional, national, international and global context.

You will also learn how disability, class, gender, religion, nationality and sexuality can play key roles in how people access the media as well as interpret it.

  • Voice, Reach and Impact

Within this unit you will engage in production practice and get the opportunity to initiate, develop and create your own project through various forms of electronic media. You will need to learn how to pitch your ideas to an audience, develop your idea to a global brand level and understand your audience.

  • Cross-Platform Projects

Here you will work within a group to produce various projects that can work across different media platforms. You will gain specialist knowledge in various forms of media, from online web content to TV production. You will have to show an ability to create media content that is creative and can be adapted across various mediums.

  • Dissertation

The dissertation aims to give you a chance to develop and demonstrate your critical, analytical and research skills by creating a significant academic piece of work. You can chose to do this by creating an investigative report, a creative project or developing an industry research project. You will be assigned a dissertation supervisor who will be able to act as a consultant throughout the process.
