You will gain a critical appreciation of a range of contemporary and pervasive issues that impact on organizations, managers and employees. It aims to give an insight into topical business issues, including the increasingly globalized environment in which businesses operate. It further aims to equip you with the ability to analyze and critically reflect upon the ambiguities, complexities and uncertainties that are inherent in modern business and management.

  • Strategic Management

This unit is designed to enhance your progress by encouraging you to develop the intellectual and professional attributes needed for the performance of strategic analysis, make appropriate choices between alternative strategies, and then to implement the chosen strategies with desired results.

  • International Marketing Management

The aims of this unit are to:

  • provide a critical and systematic view of the major perspectives, theoretical approaches, principles and activities in international marketing management;
  • review critically theoretical frameworks both for the analysis of international marketing environments and for the development of marketing program within them;
  • develop analytical skills to explore the issues raised by different international market situations and provide appropriate recommendations in response to them.
  • Contemporary Employment Studies

The unit is designed to develop conceptual understanding of the nature and character of modern employment relations and the management of the ‘people’ resource, in those choosing the HRM pathway at this stage of the program. You will critically reflect upon policies, procedures and developments at national, industry and workplace levels whilst simultaneously acknowledging increasingly influential, European and International contexts to British employment relations practice.
